Busy busy busy

I have so far today made up 4 (count 'em!) corsets. They need boning and finishing. So I am approximately 5/6 of the way through my trade order. I am knackered. Tonight I will be making up at least one more, leaving all the finishing and a final one to be done tomorrow.

Still, need the money :) I have secured a wedding dress commission also, so when the money for that comes in, I may even be able to get the new sewing machine I desperately need. Go me!

I'm trying to decide whether to start going to festivals etc., I am in two minds as I am not sure whether I can a) have enough stock and b) have the right kind of stock. I could add c) and get there as I can't drive and neither can Ghost. Maybe I should put driving lessons on the 'to do' list.... Chris is very keen, but he hasn't a clue about fashion ("I want some trousers - kind of leather ones with a string up the side with some brown stuff on" - translation, I would like a pair of lace up sided leather look trousers with brown PVC inserts) and I don't really want to go just on his word. I have been having a look at the traders so far and I think I might slot in nicely, but will LARPers pay what I charge? Currently the choice is The Gathering (Lorien Trust) or InFest with plus size cyberwear, but as Ghost pointed out, InFest can be very 'label conscious' and I'm not that big a label. God I am so indecisive! It's just that either one will be a massive amount of work, and I don't want to put in all that work and all that time and all that money to sit behind a stall all day picking imaginary lint off of everything!

Anyway, corsets are not making themselves so I had better go and sew some more!

Sounds like you have been a busy bee! Do you have a website for your clothing? I would love to see some of your work :D

Do you do plus size orders?

I have been a busy busy bee :(

I don't have a website as yet, I sell on ebay as pandaemonaeum and have a store called 'Forever in Black'. I shall have the website very soon as I have finally worked out what my web designer needs from the vague, technical language he uses whenever it's mentioned!

I take plus size orders, if you see anything you like that I do on ebay, let me know and I'll give you a price. I'm pretty reasonable and can do absolutely any size.

No doubt I will have a big screaming post up here when my website is finally up and running, and I will be spamming for Britain!

:D

I will have to keep an eye on your eBay auctions :) I have been trying to locate Custom Clothing Makers recently as all the sorts of clothes I like are never made commercially in my size, so I have to get them made for me.

When you have a site up and running I will add you to my Clothing Links on my website :D I am going to add a Recommended Ebay Sellers part to my Links section aswell, so I can add you there aswell!

Thanks! I will add you to that feature too :)

Hmm...y'know personally i think you should go to Infest with your stall...i understand what Bryan means about people being label conscious there, but not everyone that leans towards the 'cyber' aspect of the scene is that stuck up their own arse..People get bored of the same old labels anyway..i know i do..you can bring in something fresh and interesting..and bloody hell your stuff is great...you can bring some new and interesting designs and i think people will snap them up...(like that fab new fleece you showed me...i want one!)especially considering they DO look good and they ARE great prices as well..What about the fact that you do Plus-Size cyberwear? The likes of Cyberdog think size 12 is extra large..and i'm sorry but i've seen LOTS of generously sized cybers and i think with your great designs and good prices you should make a lot of money..especially as most labels are way over priced for what you get. I know if i have any spending money for clothes and stuff for Infest (which i hope so!) then i'll be buying stuff off you!(Cybery flleeeece..mmmm...blue PVC...mmmmm)...Well thats just my opinion..It would be more profitable than The Gathering i think, because people at Infest would probably be more willing to buy more than one item and keep coming back for more (cause no doubt you will be plugging the website and the custom orders), whereas at the gathering the clothing is considered more of a costume to most of the people cause it *is* a fantasy event and so they would be more likely to buy one or two items and leave it at that..cause its not like they are gonna be wearing their 'fantasy' wear to the shops or down the pub is it..(this is presuming that most people who go the gathering aren't actually goths or anything like that..therefore wearing medievil style or peasant style clothing isn't a day to day occurance for them...not that it is for a lot of goths...but you know what i mean...argh!) However this is simply my rambling opinion and i can't read peoples minds or see the future...which is a shame. :p

Both have their advantages and disadvantages. The biggest drawback with Infest is that I don't think I'd enjoy the music very much and would spend my time skulking in the trad goth room avoiding listening to bleep. The other Infest drawback is certain people who go there, whom I will not name, with whom I would rather not deal.

I know there are very few people doing plus sized cyberwear (Wysteria does some, I think that's about it), and it's hard to get, but I might wait and see how the website goes before committing to anything.

The Gathering's drawbacks are the costs. It's expensive to take a stall, I'd need a tent to run my stall in and lights etc. I'd also need camping equipment (ME in a muddy field :O :O :O)) and my dietary requirements are hard enough to cater for without having to eat off a camping stove/ from catering trucks for a weekend. I'm also worried about things like 'will I have the right stuff' and 'will I cover costs' etc. Ghost and I are currently swithering towards the opinion that unless we are actually going to GO to a festival, it's not worth taking a stall. Which kind of rules out Infest, unless my tastes change overnight or the line-up is a total shock.

However, if I decide to go, wanna help out on the stall? :D

Well i see what you mean...i'm probably just being selfish wanting you to come to Infest (hehe)...well at least it will be clean and warm and stuff there! And yes i will help you out on the stall if you come to Infest, definatly! I will smile and plug stuff and the like...

Don't be put off by nay-sayers - I know from lots of hearsay that your stuff is good, so your reputation is already great!!
