Competition indeed!

So last night, just before Contamination Radiation starts, my mass bitching session with Miss Jo was interrupted by a rude little man with flyers. They were for a 'gothic fashion show'. They looked really professional, except for the spiv in cheap clothes giving them out, so I had a closer look. Then a little chat.

It went:
Me: "Who is in this fashion show then"
Spiv: "Oh, just us"
Me : "So, who are you?"
Spiv : "We run a stall on Tynemouth Market" (note, Tynemouth market is a car boot sale!)
Me: "Do you have a shop, then?"
Spiv : "Yeah, in Tipperary"
Me :"Oh, that's a long way" (Massive laughter from everyone)
Spiv : "Eh?"
Me: "Never mind, who's modelling?"
Spiv : (Leers) "Just some local girls, some regular customers, like. Professional models are too intimidating"
Miss Jo : "So are you looking for models?"
Spiv : (Leers harder) "Why, do you want to model like?"
Miss Jo: "Nooooo, I'm too intimidating. Besides, you'd have to pay me!"
Spiv: (To me) "Are you coming?"
Me : "Possibly, I thought I might have been asked to participate. I run Forever in Black" (Spiv's mate backs off sharpish)
Spiv :"Oh, you're the competition then"
Me : "Unless you stock steel bones corsets, one-off custom designs, and period reproductions, I hardly think so" (turns back on annoying little man)

Miss Jo, Maria and I then bitched about what a prick he was. Miss Jo went off to show her boss, who runs the local goth emporium, the flyers.

And vengeance shall be ours, oh yes. For we are getting got up in our best bib and tucker, which is indeed impressive, and going along - to hand out flyers for Kathmandu, FiB, CH and Miss Jo's lovely Mr Craig's club, Fight the Robots. MUWHAHAHAHAHA.

Right, I'm off to make some corsets and steam me bustle!

Yeah, I mean, if they'd been a bit nicer, had stayed at the club, hadn't interrupted Jo and I to lech at us, I would have a different attitude. But they were spivs, like DelBoy and Rodney do goth, and the band they have is a pop punk band! It's just not very goth, and the insufferably rude way they foisted their flyers onto us just put our backs up.

I know these people are just trying to run a business, but it's not necessary to be so rude and awful. I hate it when non-scene people try to do this kind of thing, it's always so half-assed :(

I hate people like that... They really piss me off. Im sure you will turn that "event" to your advantage and I am sure you will all look stunning ;)

I really am going to have to ask you to make me a corset hun. I have been dying for a proper steel boned corset or underbust forever but I have never been able to get one in my size :(

Is there a limit on the size you can make one in?

There is no size limit as far as I am concerned, I once made a corset for a lovely lady with a 62" bust and she looked amazing!
