Deadlines!

I need to get started on final work for the magazine. I've been on for a couple of hours editing reviews etc. I couldn't face the interviews last night (cramp, aaaaargh) so I am working on those this morning. I also have to find time to do my ebay listing. I have only managed to photograph 2 items!

I am so behind because I went to a mate's birthday bash yesterday. I felt obliged to go as I skipped last year's and I felt bad about just leaving him on his own. We were all supposed to play Qasar Laser. However, the best laid plans of mice and men, etc, and we had trouble getting him out of the pub! After about an hour of watching him pour alcohol down his throat at an alarming rate, I gave up and went for a walk around the Metro Centre. The MetroCentre is a huge mall type thing in Gateshead. I hate it totally. In about a square mile of retail space I like precisely two shops. There are no fabric shops, no fake hair shops, and the 'alternative' shop sells overpriced essential oils and candles, and that's it. It's so expensive for retail space all the shops are huge chain stores - and they are extending it even further! I really wish they would put in some little, interesting shops instead of the usual Top Shop etc. Anyway, I bought a little plastic drawer unit, drooled over some teeny tiny tiaras, and spotted a couple of things I liked in Laura Ashley and Monsoon, then went back to try and extract Richie from the pub.

By this point, the Quasar Laser was fully booked until 5. The lads all went to the Arcade, and I went to House of Fraser to see if they had a fabric department. No luck.

So we went into town. We went to the Northumberland Arms, which doesn't believe in air conditioning, and I nearly passed out. We wrestled the empty beer glass from Richie ("but there's still some in!") Then we went along to Trillians, Newcastle's "Rock Bar". Richie managed to fall over a fixed bench in the street, and I ran out of sympathy. My 'stalker' was in Trillians, just what I needed to make my day complete. Six bloody hours I wasted, I could have done loads of sewing. I'm not going to ANY more of Richie's birthday dos, as I don't drink and watching Richie get drunk is about as exciting as watching paint dry. I know this; I see him do it every CH! Trillians was mostly empty, we said hi to Feral and Eugene and then made our excuses to go. I seriously doubt Richie even noticed, he couldn't even stand up straight. He actually said to me "If you see any nice looking girls, tell them I'm not drunk" I can't believe he was serious; you would have to be completely stupid not to guess that the incoherent man swaying in front of you was drunk!

So I am now typing and reading and checking like a mad thing! Thank god for public holidays, it has extended my deadline by 24 hours :D

I'll check with Kev. He's usually very quick with these things. He's a hard worker is our Kev :)
